@george, i'm sure you've heard it before, but here goes:One day, one day (as passed down from the wise ones). these dutch people created a new beer, and were struggluing to come up with a name. So they travelled all over the world to find a name that would do justice to this beer that was sure to have international acclaim. they made all the locals in the different countries taste it, but it never really took off, and no one could come up with a name. As they were on their last barrel, they found themselves in a sunny village in Giyani (limpopo), where the kokwanas were sitting under the trees drying some mopani worms. The dutch people decided to hand out the last of their beer, and get rid of the excess luggage before heading home. To their surprise, as they were starting to make tracks, the Tsonga village people were enjoying the beer so much, and getting a bit tipsy, they demanded more, shouting "hinyikeni! hinyikeni", which of course means "give us!!".
dutch people had no idea what this meant, but thought it sounded cool, so they took the name. BUT, they had to make it sound dutch, so they modified it to Heineken!
